To see the love and excitement on the parent’s face when they see their child come into this world has been the greatest satisfaction in being a surrogate.

The ‘process’ is detailed, but let me tell you, as a four-time surrogate, it’s worth every precious second. When these parents see their baby, it’s unlike any experience in the universe.

    Surrogate FAQ

How do I become a surrogate?

Becoming a surrogate starts with a brief application to confirm basic surrogate requirements such as age, health, prior pregnancy history, and expectations for the overall surrogacy process. Upon qualification, we will work with you to collect all previous medical records and schedule a video meeting with you to discuss what you are seeking in a match and any questions you may have. Rest assured Newborn Advantage will guide you through each step from the surrogate application, interview, legal, medical, and delivery—so you always know what’s next.

What are the requirements to be a surrogate?

Typical surrogacy requirements include: ages 21–40, at least one full-term uncomplicated birth, BMI below 31, non-smoker and smoke-free household, stable lifestyle, willingness to take injectable medications, and travel for medical clearance and embryo transfer. Certain conditions or medications may disqualify you. Apply to get a fast, personalized review of your eligibility.

How much do surrogates get paid?

Compensation is competitive and transparent, typically including a base fee plus allowances for maternity clothing, travel, medical appointments, and lost wages where applicable. Final numbers vary by experience (first-time vs. experienced surrogate), and the specifics of the match. On top of the base compensation you can expect the following:

    Structured Additional Benefits:

    Milestone bonuses:

    • Upon passing medical clearance: $1,000
    • Embryo transfer: $1,500
    • Maternity clothing: $1,000

    • Life insurance policies starting at: $250,000

    Additional potential fees:

    • Multiples ($10,000),
    • medically necessary C-section ($5,000),
    • Loss of each ovary or fallopian tube ($5,000),
    • Complete hysterectomy ($10,000)

*Please contact us today to learn more about the full benefits package.

Do I need to live near a surrogacy agency or clinic?

No. We work with surrogates across the U.S. Often surrogates are required to travel to intended parents’ fertility centers for medical clearance and embryo transfer.  All other medical appointments leading up to embryo transfer and immediately after transfer are performed at a fertility center local to you.  Your personal OB will handle your pregnancy and delivery.

    Can I be a surrogate after a C-section?

Yes, a prior c-section doesn’t automatically disqualify you, provided you have a healthy obstetric history and meet other surrogate qualifications. A surrogate may have had up to two prior c-sections and still qualify.

Can I be a surrogate after tubal ligation?

Yes. A prior tubal ligation will not disqualify you, provided you have a healthy obstetric history and meet other surrogate qualifications.

How does matching with intended parents work?

As an agency, our mission is to find the perfect match by asking in-depth questions of both surrogates and intended parents so we can make a match based on shared values, expectations, and personalities.  We will facilitate a video call between you and the intended parents to meet and get to know each other on a surface level. A match will only be solidified if it is acceptable to both parties.
